Care and Use of Essential Oils
Always keep your oils in a dark, cool place as they can deteriorate quickly if left in sunlight.
Always remember to replace the cap after use as they can evaporate and get contaminated if left open.
Many of the oils are flammable and volatile substances so take care when near naked flames or high temperature heat sources.
Never use any essential oil neat on your skin. Always dilute in any of the following ways:
In a bath: add a maximum of 8 drops of essential oil to your bath. Run the bath first to the desired temperature and then add the essential oils, giving the water a good swish round before getting in. For maximum benefit, soak in the bath for at least 15 minutes.
On a burner: add between 10 and 15 drops of essential oil to the water in the “well”.
In an inhalation: add 2 or 3 drops to a bowl of boiling water. Place your face a few inches from the surface of the water with a towel over your head to keep in the steam. Keep eyes closed and breathe steadily for up to 5 minutes.
Mix with a carrier base oil allowing up to 3 drops per teaspoonful (approx. 5ml) of carrier.
